This message guide is intended for anyone aiming to build local support for social housing, and reduce stigma experienced by social housing residents. It was developed following message research conducted by Common Cause Australia on behalf of the Regional Local Government Homelessness & Social Housing Charter Group (Victoria).

Our research included advocate interviews, consultations with people with lived experience of social housing, a public discourse analysis, focus groups (conducted by our council partners), and dial testing.

The Social Housing Message Guide guide outlines five top tips for more effective messaging to boost local support for social housing, along with sample messages and advice on words to embrace and replace.
